Help-y Hour Recap

Help-y Hour is our newest friend and fundraising program.

On August 9th, Yxta, Jesse Gomez’s “authentic Mexican gem” at 6th & Central hosted a day long Help-y Hour, donating a percentage of lunch, dinner and Happy Hour to benefit the kids in Bienvenidos programs. It was one of their busiest days ever…and the Help-y Hour featured cocktails were the Blood Orange and Jalapeño Margaritas!

On September 16th, The Raymond in Pasadena hosted a Help-y Hour in their 1886 Bar (said to be the “coolest place in Pasadena”). Friends of Bienvenidos packed the room. Their mixologist created the Hemingway Daiquiri as the Bienvenidos signature drink. 100% of the proceeds from that cocktail were donated to benefit our kids!

We thank Yxta and The Raymond!
Please join us for our next Help-y Hour!

2013 Bienvenidos Casino Night – A Huge Success!

It was a perfect evening for playing casino games. The weather was gorgeous, drawing 300 guests for our 6th Annual Casino Night held at the fabulous SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills. The night was filled with the cheers of winning hands, auction bids, and dancing music. Guests were treated to beverages donated by AsomBroso and Gallo Wines, as well as a heavenly dessert spread from Porto’s Bakery.
We are grateful to Wells Fargo, our top Casino Night sponsor, for believing in and support the high-quality social services work that we provide.

All event profits benefit the children and families served by Bienvenidos.

TELASOFA & Bienvenidos Present the East LA Film Festival

On September 13th, 2013, Bienvenidos and The East Los A Society of Film and Arts (TELASOFA) presented The East Los Angeles Film Festival at Self Help Graphics in Downtown LA. The focus of the festival was to “provoke thought and inspire solutions” through multi-cultural films on issues affecting our communities.

The youth presenting films at the festival take part in a collaborative mentorship program by Bienvenidos, TELA-SOFA, and the entertainment industry with emphasis on prevention of HIV, substance abuse,  violence, and teen pregnancy.

The year long program culminates with the film festival, where the youth groups are able to showcase their films and art alongside the directors, producers, and artists that mentored them.

A Big Thanks to My Stuff Bags!

My Stuff BagsWhen eight year-old Angela came to Bienvenidos, she was scared. Her Case Manager gave her a My Stuff Bag filled with toys and school supplies that are donated to help children just like her. She was thankful for the bag, but as she opened it, her face lit up when she saw there was a Snuggie Sweater – just like the ones she always wanted when she saw them on TV. She wrapped herself up in the Snuggie and just smiled.
Bienvenidos would like to thank My Stuff Bags Foundation for providing hope to our children, as well as putting smiles on their faces, through their generous donation of My Stuff Bags.
